European Parliament: meeting with French MEP
At the French MEPs meeting, a large groupe of the TFWW participants came to the European Parliament to discuss the Fast fashion issues with Majdouline Sbaï.
We talked about the project and all the things we did in our trip. We tried to convinced her to push for a ban of Fast Fashion advertisement. She agreed with all our suggestions and arguments. She is specialized in the topic but has a different angle to approach our common issues. She wants to fight the e-commerce as a dangerous practice for the international trade, the workers rights and the dynamics of the European city centers (where shops are closing because of the conccurence of the e-commerce platforms).
She urged us to continue what we did and to coordinate a citizen advocacy at a large scale. For fighting in the institutions, she needs the support of the civil society. The citizen mobilisation can change a vote at the Parliament (such as the Restoration of the Nature law, adopted with just few votes). She also urged us to keep the contact with her and the others MEPs, to give them informations, breaking news, scandals the Fast fashion can create and help her to ban these dangerous practices.
If we want to change the things on Fast Fashion, we need to keep fighting.
