Advocacy meeting at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia
In Ljubljana we met the Slovenian minister of Foreign and European Affairs to discuss the support of Slovenia to the ban of fast-fashion advertisement in the EU law. It went quite well, as an individual he was very interested on the topic, knowing fast-fashion was bad but not how much. So we talked, defending the need of a governmental support for the civil society and repeating that the citizens’ initiatives to promote more sustainable behaviours are not enough to make a real change at the national and European levels, even if it’s admirable and needs to be encouraged.
We talked then about what we wanted from the Ministry, especially concerning the changes of legislation. He promised us to talk his colleagues from other departements and to push with the different Slovenians representatives at the EU Institutions when our idea will be on the table. He was probably a bit less into it than the state secretary responsible for the environment and climate, but it looks like a natural behaviour from a Foreign Affairs minister.
We will be keeping in touch, watching that our advocacy work will not disappear from their minds.
