Meeting with Slovenian MEP Matjaž Nemec
Today, Lune Culmann, Atusa Karbaschi, and Klara Jamnik, accompanied by Nataša Novak from the SLOGA Platform, met Matjaž Nemec at his office in Ljubljana. We held a hybrid meeting in which we presented to him the aims of the project and our achievements of the caravan. We encouraged him to join us in our efforts to change or promote the existing legislation on ultra-fast and fast fashion advertising.
Matjaž Nemec and his team immediately expressed their interest in participating. They suggested important next steps for further work and reassured us that they would spread the information further within the S&D party and provide us with contacts of MEPs who would like to work more actively on fast fashion issues. They offered us their close cooperation and active support for our efforts. They also encouraged us to enter into dialogue with representatives of the other parties present in the European Parliament and to try to present our project not only as a green agenda but as an issue relating to green transition, human rights support, and promotion of the European economy by supporting local and national businesses and ensuring fair competition between textile retailers on the European market.
